Snip Snip

It finally came....

I cut my daughter's hair.

A little over a month ago, I took the trimmers to Nolan's head. I didn't like the back getting shaggy. No real tears as to what I had just done. He's a boy after all...shouldn't be a big deal for him to get a trim from mom.

Now Eliza...she hasn't had a single hair cut since her birth. She had a small beginning of hair that was positioned like a Jewish yamaka.

Grow her hair did and I tried to train the growth to part naturally on her very wild hair pattern. Her bangs sweep to one side, but the sides grow slowly compared to the back. We've tried clips, bands and ties to tame it.

But she is a wild child who tosses and turn her head on the floor and under things.

Most hair pretties do not stand much of a chance at staying for any length of time.

With a single cut in the back, with the longest and most noticeable length wrapped in a rubber band...it was done.

No longer is there any baby left in my little girl.

*Note*
I know it seems silly to be sad over a first hair cut and its a normal part of life, but I struggled with this since the document-er of this family had wanted to snap a dozen photos in natural lighting etc etc...but I guess...who has the time or money for that right?

Snow Bunny

If you can believe it, this is my first time going sledding with my own kids. The last time I went tubing, it was at a young adult retreat in my single days. With Mr. G gone YET AGAIN on another Saturday, and with temps in the mid 30's, it was time to try and enjoy this endless misery called winter.

As always, she had no fear, while even sitting down on unsuspecting unsupervised sleds and took off. She never wiped out while riding, but ate it HARD, head first when another younger girl clipped her.

In the end, I think more effort was exerted in just trying to make it back up the hill while dragging the sled behind. Snow is quite the obstacle for an almost 3 year old. Maybe next year, Nolan will get a chance to enjoy the hill with his big sister...instead of being imprisoned in the jogger.

Co-Sleeping Kids

After getting home rather late from a MOPS planning meeting, I sat at the computer while I waited for my night meds to start kicking in. Since I had missed the bedtime routine craziness, I decided to peek in on the littles. When I couldn't see my daughter in her bed, I quickly check the crib after finding some of the recent shenanigans. Yep, I was certainly right!

I took to google to see if there were any solutions with no luck. All talk about keeping kids in crib, not out.

I can't be the only parent to run into this problem!?

Crib tents have been mentioned, but I have never seen them in a store before and those online were all being mentioned as being recalled...blurg.

Nolan is way too young for a toddler bed as he isn't walking yet and he lacks some body awareness when sitting on elevated surfaces freely.

Is this a phase?

Is Eliza reverting?

Our Little Eliza

First I'll make a mess here...then move on to the bathroom
territory while uncovering the bottom of every toy bin....

Upcycle MOBY

Mr. G was away for the weekend at a music ministry commitment, so that left us with WAY to much time inside while it continues to be cold and sporadic in the snow dept. I really can't wait for things to clear up and enjoy being outside again.

I busted out my Moby wrap from storage and decided to try it out as an under stable hammock for Eliza. This knit material is quite stretchy, so even though you may have tied it up tight and short, kids can easily pull it down. Not to mention, if for some reason things become untied, they are not far off the ground should they fall off.

Around the house

Cuddle time with Daddy

I met him this way and I will continue this way

Eliza discovered she could crash Nolan's crib party. I think
he has mixed feelings about the company....
